A free tool · The Vedic Day
Find a good day.
Some days are made for beginning, others for rest. Choose where you are and what you have in mind, and see which of the next two weeks suit it best. You don’t need to know any astrology to use it.
Underneath, it reads each day the way the old Vedic almanac does, through five limbs of time, for anyone who wants to go deeper.
Find Your Good Days
Reading the sky…
How to read it
Five limbs, five elements.
In Vedic astrology the day begins at sunrise, and the sky at sunrise names it. Each of its five limbs carries one of the five elements, so together they describe the whole weather of a day: body, heart, mind, people and work.
Read it the way you would read the clouds before a walk. It won’t tell you what will happen. It shows the currents you’re moving through, so you can choose when to push, when to begin, and when to rest.
The map of limbs and elements follows Freedom Cole’s Science of Light. The weekday and nakshatra readings are my own, first written for my PHASE SHIFT newsletter. Positions use the Lahiri ayanamsa and Astronomy Engine by Don Cross, and everything is calculated in your browser, so your date and place never leave this page.
- Vara · FireThe weekday and its planet: your vitality, the strength behind what you do.
- Tithi · WaterThe lunar day: what the heart wants, and how feelings move.
- Nakshatra · AirThe Moon’s star: where the mind and breath are pointed.
- Yoga · SpaceThe Sun and Moon together: how people get along.
- Karana · EarthHalf a lunar day: how the work goes.
